Fitness is a third career for me. I started in Pilates as a client after a car accident and as I recovered from my injuries, my focus changed to losing weight and re-sculpting my body. When the opportunity to become an instructor arose, I jumped on it. I saw it as an opportunity to continue working on my own fitness goals while also opening a door to new possibilities. My career was stressful, teaching was a hobby and part of my future retirement plan.
We opened @ The Barre Pilates, Barre & Fitness Studio in February 2015 and my hobby became my livelihood. The Studio gave me one location to offer my services. Prior to opening I was all over the city on a daily basis. Every class we offer at the Studio is grounded in my Stott Pilates® Certification in Matwork and Reformer. The Barre program I have created has combined the Principles of Pilates, my love for dance and few barre disciplines I’ve experienced over the years including Merrithew’s™ Total Barre™. I am committed to exceeding my CEC requirements to maintain my certification. Below are just a few highlights of my education in addition to the courses and workshops I’ve attended.

Kirsi began practicing in Pilates classes in 2015 after plateauing in her recovery from a car accident a year prior – and immediately fell in love. She credits the effective, yet gentle, STOTT PILATES method in helping her finally overcome her injuries and resultant chronic migraine diagnosis. Having also caught the “dance bug” at the age of 4, Kirsi was overjoyed to find @ The Barre – Pilates, Barre & Fitness Studio, and get back to the barre!
In the fall of 2017, Kirsi embraced her love, and original career path of teaching, and underwent @ The Barre’s Barre Instructor Training Course. Then in the spring of 2018 she completed her STOTT matwork training and the intensive reformer training in the fall of 2018 with sights on becoming a STOTT Certified Instructor. When she’s not in her tights and grip socks at the studio, Kirsi enjoys dancing to Spanish music while cooking, sailing, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
